Risk Factor of Vaginal Tumor

Having a risk factor does not mean that you will get cancer and not having risk factors doesn’t mean that you will not get cancer. Risk factors for vaginal cancer include the following:

  • Having a history of abnormal cells in the uterus or cancer of the uterus.
  • Having a history of abnormal cells in the cervix or cervical cancer.
  • Having had a hysterectomy for health problems that affect the uterus

EXAMS AND TESTS

Patients who have no symptoms, the cancer may be found during a routine pelvic examination and pap smear.

Other tests to diagnose vaginal tumors include:

  • Biopsy – A biopsy is the removal of a small piece of tissue for laboratory examination.
  • Colposcopy – A colposcopy is a special way of looking at the cervix. It uses a light and a low powered microscope to make the cervix appear much larger.

Other tests that can be done include:

  • Chest x-ray – A chest x-ray is an x-ray of the chest, lungs, heart, large arteries, ribs and diaphragm.
  • CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis – A computed tomography (CT) scan is an imaging method that uses x-ray to create pictures of cross-sections of the body.
